Unexpected - Arts and Science Innovation Forum arrangerades på Mejeriet under första veckan i juni.

“Innovation doesn’t start with technology. It starts with people. We came to Lund to explore how innovation truly happens and today made it clear: when creatives take the lead, systems shift.

At the Unexpected Arts & Science Innovation Forum, we saw it in action—from archaeology and fashion to the power of performing arts, cultural actors are not just part of the process—they’re reshaping entire sectors.” (ekip, den europeiska policyplattformen som hade general assembly dagen före Unexpected arrangerades och ett policy lab dagen efter.)

“For almost two years now, we’ve been diving into social media conversations to better understand the creative and cultural industries, helping the amazing ekip team shape resilient, forward-looking, and open innovation strategies for the sector. One of the highlights was presenting our new creative personas — a framework to imagine future professionals, explore the most relevant skills of tomorrow, and reflect on their possible needs and challenges. The enthusiasm around this sparked so many meaningful conversations. It confirmed there’s not only a strong interest in the future, but a real desire to be prepared for it.” (Debora Bae, Nextatlas, och talare på Unexpected)

“Just back from Unexpected in Lund, and one takeaway from Debora’s (Deborah Bae’s) amazing talk stood out:  Europe doesn’t need to move faster. It needs to move differently.

Our strength isn’t scale — it’s taste (https://lnkd.in/dmFHfQdY). The ability to blend old worlds and new tools.” (Luca Morena, Nextatlas)

“Just returned from Lund, Sweden, where I took part in ekip’s General Assembly, our Policy Lab on 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴-𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘴, and the brilliant Unexpected Arts & Science Innovation Forum organised by Future by Lund.

There, together with Valentina Auricchio, I had the opportunity to lead ekip's Policy Corner, an open conversation with the Forum's participants about the urgent challenges faced by CCIs in their everyday practices. I came home with a heartwarming thought shared by one participant at the Policy Corner, which I'd like to share with all of you: "𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮." (Vanessa Monna, Politecnico di Milano)

“Unexpected — a day full of activity and creativity, focused on how cross-innovation with CCIs can lead to investable innovation portfolios. Practitioners were at the centre, leading through real case studies that showed the power of innovation in development. “(Alfonso Martín Mateo, TU Delft)

“I am in a very yellow innovation zone today… at the UNEXPECTED. Arts & Science conference by Future by Lund/Lunds universitet with some of great pitches by Charlotte Lorentz Hjorth (setting the innovation scene), David Polfeldt (the arts as detection and interpretation of waves, manipulating energy for emotions), Daniel Hjorth (the power of style, aesthetics and innovation)”  (Marcin Poprawski, HUMAK University of Applied Sciences)

At last week’s UNEXPECTED (Arts & Science Innovation Forum) event hosted byFuture by Lund, we had the opportunity to share what we’re building — not through slides or speeches, but through flavor. (…) This kind of co-creation – from university kitchens to starup labs – is where innovation comes alive. It blends creativity, practicality, and a shared ambition to change what food can be. Later, during the mingling, our team at Dapibuset served additional skowcase products made with the same ingredient, giving a broader taste of how MycoSpan™ performs across applications – from feed to food. (Micael Simonsson, Dapibuset, som serverade smakbitar av framtidens mat)

”What stood out to me the most throughout the event was how deeply arts and science can complement each other. As a STEM student, I used to think of them as separate worlds. But after listening to talks and witnessing projects in action, I now believe that combining creativity with research is not just valuable, however, it’s essential.” (Mo Chen, volontär från Lunds universitet)

“Thanks to our partners, Future by Lund, we got to share together our work within @IPA - Innovation Portfolio Approach, looking at our complex realities with curiosity, empathy, endurance and inclusion to address future proof solutions that are ethical and just, bridging with trust and participation between all different stakeholders.” (Centrul Cultural PLAI, deltagare I IPA-projektet)

”Excited to be part of the UNEXPECTED Arts & Science Innovation Forum in Lund, Sweden. A space where art, science, and society come together to spark bold ideas and cross-sector collaboration. I leave the Lund, inspired by the creative energy, meaningful dialogues, and innovative spirit that defined this unique gathering.” (Lulzim Hoti, 7Arte och Tu pa, tub bo-projektet)

“We're showcasing how Digital Product Passports (DPP) work in practice – and how 3D printing can be used to seamlessly integrate DPP functionality directly into the part using NFC technology. This is a great opportunity to explore how circular design, traceability, and digital twins are evolving with additive manufacturing at the core.” (Lostboyslab, som tillsammans med What.io demonstrerade hur DPP kan se ut)
