Vad?

Systems, ideas and technology make change possible, but people make it happen. A changing society needs creative and driven individuals within its own organisation but also outside to co-create a dynamic culture of innovation where it is natural to collaborate across organisational and knowledge boundaries.

Varför?

Cultural and creative competences are important to catalyze and enable co-creation in the space where the new is born and allowed to grow.

Unexpected 2023 — a forum for innovation across borders

In 2023, Lund University, in collaboration with Future by Lund, created a new and unique forum called UNEXPECTED where you can take part in and be inspired by ongoing innovation and collaboration processes that also reflect on “existential sustainability” as a value foundation. On 1 June 2023, researchers, entrepreneurs, politicians, officials and entrepreneurs gathered for an international forum at the Mejeriet in Lund.

Lund University: ekip, a policy platform for cultural and creative industries

Innovation and creative skills are an important part of the green transition. This is one of the reasons why Lund University is working together with partners from all over Europe in a project to develop policy recommendations to promote innovation in the cultural and creative industries. The mandate comes from the European Commission.

Spira Skåne for today's and tomorrow's companies

‍ Lund's innovation and entrepreneurial system was part of the extensive Scanian business project Spira Skåne led by IUC Syd and Minc. The project was aimed at tomorrow's entrepreneurs but also at companies that wanted to rethink and rethink during the pandemic. The hope was that thirty new companies would be established across Skåne and that one hundred established companies would be helped to develop and restructure their operations.

XPlot: Creative Business Cup

The Creative Business Cup is a competition for startups from the creative industries of fifty countries. The competition's mission is to provide entrepreneurs with an international platform to further develop their ideas and to eliminate the complexities associated with business development.

Lund University: RobotLab

Epi is a kind of human-like robot found in the Department of Cognitive Science at Lund University. The eyes are large and this is important because scientists in the humanities use the robots to study the interaction between robot and human. Work on the robots has now progressed so far that others may also be allowed to use them in experiments. This provides an opportunity for innovative constellations with researchers from different disciplines but also for representatives from the business world to investigate the intersection of soft values and robotics.

Giffoni Innovation Hub

Future by Lund started an international collaboration with Giffoni Innovation Hub in 2017 to promote young people's work with innovations and entrepreneurship. In 2017 and 2018, young people from Lund together with representatives from Future by Lund visited Giffoni and participated in the work on innovations and entrepreneurship for young people.

Lund University: “The Buzz of Europe is Creativity and Culture”

Lund University, with its event “The Buzz of Europe” on 29 April 2022, showcased its work on shaping concepts and partnerships to work with a KIC in cultural and creative industries. A KIC is a strategic development initiative undertaken by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Make Space for Workshop: Skåne's creative places have been put on the map!

Skåne has over 70 creative workshops of various kinds. Together, they create a diverse ecosystem that responds to the many different needs of many audiences, from amateurs to creative entrepreneurs and researchers. Unfortunately, many workshops are dragged by resource problems, difficulty in reaching out and insufficient familiarity with each other. By strengthening cooperation and pooling resources and expertise, Skåne's creative sector can have a strengthened infrastructure. This is stated in the project “Make Space for the Workshop”, which has been carried out under the auspices of Lund University. Anneli Xie is the project manager and in collaboration with Birgitta Persson she has put Skåne's creative places on the map. Here are some conclusions from the project!

CCSC: Lund Urban Lab creates cultural hangouts — both real and online

Kulturföreningen Mejeriet was the focus of student work on the Digital Cultures programme. The task was to find ways to make physical meeting places interact with new digital patterns of production, consumption and experience. This was also part of the major co-European cultural project CCSC. “The student projects were extremely high quality and resulted in many viable ideas,” says project developer Katarina Scott at Future by Lund.

The Creative Tour gets ideas flying

What does a reusable makeup box have in common with a historic app and education in sustainability? Perhaps not so much more than that they all became winning ideas when The Creative Tour scouted entrepreneurs in Skåne during May 2018. 53 ideas were presented when the tour stopped at various locations in Lund Municipality and Malmö and ten of them qualified for an accelerator program.

CCSC: Culture as a way of developing society

Lund was the capital of the major European project Cultural and Creative Spaces and Cities, which started in autumn 2018. It was the cultural organisation Trans Europe Halles, based at Mejeriet i Lund, that led the project, which aimed to inspire the whole of Europe. The task was to use methods from the cultural and creative fields to find solutions and policies that improve society. The EU invested approximately SEK 15 million in the project.

Hedda Andersson: Upper secondary school as a test bed for societal challenges

Hedda Anderssongymnasiet is Lund's fifth upper secondary school and started operations in autumn 2018. The school has an entrepreneurial profile and, together with Future by Lund, investigates whether it is possible to find innovative working methods that suit the needs of both the school, the city and external partners.

Creative Lenses - The Business Secret of Cultural Success

What are the business models that make cultural organisations more financially sustainable? The EU project Creative Lenses sought the answer to this question. Both Trans Europe Halles and Future By Lund participated from Lund.

Barcamper - A tour in search of ideas

Like Idol -- but for business ideas. In spring 2016, Barcamper had a motorhome tour in Skåne to find the brilliant ideas that had not reached the startup scene. During the trip, over 80 meetings were booked and 40 entrepreneurs have been helped to realize their business dreams.
