A palette of innovations
By working in portfolios, we aim not only to breed an innovation, but a palette of innovations driving transformation.
Future by Lund works with innovation portfolios as an approach to develop growth areas in ecosystem. A portfolio is coordinated together with selected partners, and a common strategy for development is created through work in what we call the yellow zone.

Portfolio is a way to meet challenges
Portfolios are about the transformation of an area, larger than single organizations, individuals or projects. For example, a portfolio can be driven by policy change, new technological opportunities or the desire to solve a societal challenge.
A way of clarifying the action
Defining a portfolio and formulating challenge is key when activating actors in joint innovation spaces. It is also needed in order to make the portfolio investable.
How we organize portfolio work
Themes, portfolios and projects in specific areas are connected through common challenges and questions.
Common features of portfolios are:
• Mapping of partners and projects
• Identification of tasks and projects
• Use and development of the LIEPT model
Thematic area
Themes are an overall level, followed by a portfolio level, which in turn is built up through specific projects.
Portfolio
A portfolio is coordinated together with selected partners with a focus and strategy for the development of the portfolio where several projects are linked together.
Project
A project is a subset of a portfolio and has a defined purpose where you work together with partners with budget and specific deliverables.
Innovation
By cross-linking different areas within portfolios, the foundation for exciting innovations is created.
We have portfolios in the following areas
In Future by Lund we group general societal challenges into thematic areas: Digital Cities & Citizens, Creatives & Changemakers, Moving Things & People, Future Living & Spaces and Ideas & Science for Society. Within these themes, Future by Lund works with innovation portfolios.
Below you can explore our portfolios in different innovation areas. New portfolios will be added later.
Ideas & Science for Society
New ideas form our way of thinking and well-executed projects change society. At Future by Lund, we are constantly looking for new challenges, ideas and themes that contribute to change, innovation and sustainable development.

Biosoluciones
The portfolio is accelerating the development of new fermented foods into an established food category, as part of the protein shift, thereby helping to reduce carbon dioxide and methane emissions, as well as to cancel future pasture growth and deforestation.

Robust infrastructure
In a new world order, society faces new challenges such as security threats and serious climate impacts.
Digital Cities & Citizens
Sensors, interconnected data sources and mobile data form the foundation of the real-time city. In Future by Lund, we work with solutions for the future city based on real-time information where people, organizations, infrastructure and sensor systems work together to create a sustainable environment with a high quality of life.

Digitalisation & Physical Infrastructure
The portfolio focuses on connecting and streaming use of physical infrastructure in society, such as streets, lighting, electricity networks and water.
Digital platforms
The portfolio investigates systemic use for collecting, processing and exchanging of information.
IoT & Mobility
The portfolio IoT & Mobility focuses on building knowledge and insight from mobility data and how to measure, use and visualize this as a base for decision making.

A changing society needs creative and driven individuals within organisations but also outside to co-create a dynamic culture of innovation where it is natural to collaborate across organisational and knowledge boundaries.

Archeology, cultural heritage, and immersive technology
Just as digital technology profoundly affects our daily lives, it is also revolutionizing archeology.
Fashion & Textile Transformation
The EU Textiles Strategy of 2022 will have a huge impact on today's textile production. The portfolio aims, among other things, to support the industry in adapting and finding new sustainable business models and value chains.
Kalaudioscope — Personalized Digital Live Experiences
The vision of the Innovation Portfolio is to make it possible to stream live events where the “digital” audience has control over who and what to zoom in on, not only in terms of image but also in terms of sound.
Individual Projects Creatives & Changemakers
Here you will find independent projects, still not included in a portfolio.
Storkriket Biosphere Reserve
There are currently over 700 UNESCO biospheres and seven of them are located in Sweden. The portfolio supports the development of Storkriket Biosphere reserve.

Innovation means more than technical solutions. Future by Lund with partners explore how to integrate value-driven perspectives with innovation and develop methods that promote this.
Future Living & Spaces
Future by Lund works with various new housing and workplace concepts that combine technological solutions with new behavioural patterns, for example in mobility and consumption.
